Why did you join the Digital Leaders Club?
It's a great way to be on top of what's going on in the digital world, share experiences while connecting and networking with a great bunch of like-minded folks.
What's your career journey been like to date?
In one way, it's been all over the place. My whole career has been in digital marketing/ eCommerce, focusing on paid media, CRM (retention & acquisition), trade, website management & optimisation, UX/ CRO testing, and much more.
I got to dip my toes in different industries, from retail/ fashion, to travel and finally to beauty, learning the nuances and differences that come with them. With changing industries, I have experienced and embraced different paces and challenges. My favourite so far has been the travel industry as travel is in my DNA, but I have very much embraced the fast pace and ever-evolving side of the beauty industry.
Tell us about your current position
I am leading the digital strategy for growing revenue & brand awareness for Morphe Cosmetics in the UK/EU and ANZ markets. It's all about optimising and strategising the channel mix as the company has gone through a lot of changes. Due to its scope, it's a very varied and broad role that comes at a 100miles per hour speed which I very much enjoy.
What do you love about working in digital?
The ever-changing landscape and the fast-moving pieces. What can I say, I embrace change! I love seeing the immediate results of actions taken in the digital environment. It is very fast-paced and very reactive. You can measure success and through analytics and rich data, you can prove your success and learn from failure. You continuously learn and there's always something new and exciting around the corner. It's a fun place to be in.
Have you had any interesting moments in your career so far?
For me, every change in the respective industries has been very interesting as it pushed me out of my comfort zone and I learned a lot along the way.
What’s it been like transitioning to a hybrid setup over the past few years? Do you ever see the way we work going back to "normal"?
I’m loving the hybrid setup. It opened many opportunities and has much improved the so much sought-after work-life balance. It's given parents the possibility to be more flexible and to be able to progress in their careers. It's a great model and it works brilliantly when being trusted. Transitioning into it was the easiest as it allowed me to pursue my career while still being a mum and not neglecting that part. Sadly, a lot of companies seem to be going back to "normal" which is a shame as it closes the previously opened opportunities.
How would your colleagues describe you?
Very easy-going and chatty. Relationships are everything.
What are your hobbies and interests away from work?
I enjoy traveling at any opportunity, my kids are great travel partners by now. I also love getting out into nature as much as I can hiking or running.
What would you be doing (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
Plan B: I would be a travel writer or influencer, exploring different destinations for free and writing about them. Plan C: I would open a cozy countryside wine bar - I already have lots of ideas for it!
